Gratitude and Service

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.” – Edith Lovejoy Pierce

As I contemplate the year ahead in the stillness of midnight, I know that writing will be a big part of it. With fingers on the keypad, I wait for the words to come through me and I type, “If I was to share one message for the year to come, what would it be?” The answer effortlessly moved through my fingers as if something else was moving them.

“Gratitude and Service”

The words continue to type themselves…

“Be grateful, let people know how thankful you are that they are in your life.

Give thanks for the incredible abundance and gifts you have.

Have gratitude for the teachers in your life and remember they come in all packages.

Be grateful for the difficulties which make the good times even sweeter and the knowing, that much more real.

Be grateful for your family, blood and chosen – they are truly the greatest gift you have.

Be grateful for connections and community; recognize the reach of the world wide web to initiate great change, we are closer than we think.

Be grateful for the ability to surrender; grateful that you can trust and feel safe enough to let go. But most of all, be grateful for the knowing that when you do, what happens is far more beautiful than anything you could have imagined if you held on.

Serve.

Give back.

Give back when you are hurting, when you are sad, when you feel like you have nothing left – give back anyway.

In a world full of selfish, egoic, and unconscious people your greatest resource is service.

Serve love, serve humanity; serve the planetary awakening and the people in your community to do it.

Serve God, serve the Earth; serve yourself, with love, compassion and great loving care.

You have been blessed with great gifts and they are meant to be shared. Give of yourself freely and know that you will always receive in return what you need.

May we all fill the pages of the book of life with gratitude and service”.

With Deep Thanks, Love and Blessings for the year ahead ~ Andrea Bernstein
